Update your Windows 10 to the latest version, and everything seems alright at first. I recently installed the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to my Surface Book and found out that the Windows 10 Start menu and taskbar stopped working after the update. Many users would notice that the taskbar would show up and then disappear and would not be able to pin anything to it. The taskbar was also not working correctly. The Start menu would show the default Windows 10s desktop background but not allow you to click or click and drag to get to any other items. Ever since the latest version of Windows 10, from the Creators Update, launched in early 2016, the Start menu and taskbar are not working correctly.
